MapleStory N
Since launching in mid-May, MapleStory N has quickly become one of the most popular Web3 gaming titles launched in recent years, with over 3.2 million accounts created within six weeks of its release.
Naturally, this has attracted hackers and exploiters in droves.
In a community update, MapleStory N’s team explains that certain players have been exploiting the game’s combat system, as well as leveraging bots to automate gameplay. The team notes:
“Macros don’t break the game directly. They play the game for you. And because they’re designed to look “human,” they’re often even harder to detect than hacks. To catch them, we need time and data.”
In response, MapleStory N has been banning accounts by the thousands , and will now step up security and detection measures such as tracking in-game currency spending and gameplay behaviors, as well as implementing new systems, namely a “Credit Level” to make it harder for players to make new accounts following bans.
The team writes:
“The Credit Level System will stop repeat offenders at the source, keep normal players totally unaffected and reduce abuse before it even begins.
Atia’s Legacy
Axie Infinity has shared new gameplay details for its upcoming MMORPG, Atia’s Legacy, alongside hints of an upcoming playtest.
The game introduces a shift from Axie’s original 2D PvP and adventure format to a more complex, squad-based system.
According to the developers, players will need to strategically position four Axies, each assigned roles like tank, healer, mage, or fighter, to navigate battles more effectively.
The team compares this system to titles like Diablo and Final Fantasy Tactics, where placement can influence outcomes.
A playtest is expected in the coming months, signaling a new phase for the long-running Web3 title as it experiments with deeper tactical mechanics in a broader MMO setting.
CTA Partnership
As per a press release shared with CCN, Web3 gaming investment giant Animoca Brands has announced a strategic partnership with the Cross the Ages (CTA) universe.
Cross the Ages is a multiplayer RPG built on Unreal Engine 5, touted as an “interoperable fantasy-meets-sci-fi universe that bridges games, NFTs, real-world assets, and next-gen storytelling experiences.”
It’s pitched as an “experiential” and highly ambitious ecosystem that hopes to comprise multiple games, esports, animation, collectibles, comics, books, and more.
As part of the partnership, Animoca will be leveraging its industry prowess to “bolster” CTA’s trading card game, Blast, as well as offering a go-to-market strategy, tokenomics consultations, and provide liquidity for the CTA token.
Animoca originally backed CTA in 2024, and has now commenced purchasing CTA tokens from the open market to support the ecosystem’s growth.
