Starmer calls for Iran to return to negotiating table

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has called on Iran to “return to the negotiating table” after the US became involved in the Israeli operation against the country on Saturday night.

Sir Keir said “stability in the region is a priority” and described Iran’s nuclear programme as “a grave threat to international security”.

“Iran can never be allowed to develop a nuclear weapon and the US has taken action to alleviate that threat,” he added.

It follows the US bombing Fordo and other key nuclear sites in Iran overnight.
