The NY Racing team is a small, open entry that competes part-time in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team has run six races so far this year and also attempted but failed to qualify for the Daytona 500. They’ve used both J.J. Yeley and Derek Kraus behind the wheel, but Brennan Poole is set to drive the No. 44 Chevrolet this weekend at Pocono Raceway.
Poole runs full-time in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, but this will be his first Cup start since 2023. And while the No. 44 Chevrolet wasn’t going to fight for the win, their weekend faced a major setback in inspection on Saturday.

The car failed three times before finally passing on the fourth attempt. As a result, Poole will not be allowed to qualify and will have to start from the rear of the field. Poole will also have to serve a pass-through penalty after taking the green flag. Due to the size of the Pocono race track, he will likely remain on the lead lap despite the penalty.
The team car chief has also been ejected from the track and won’t be able to take part in the rest of the race weekend, and they have also lost the privilege of choosing their pit selection.
Josh Berry in the No. 21 Wood Brothers Ford won’t take part in qualifying either after a broken rear diffuser. Cody Ware, who wrecked out of practice in the No. 51 Rick Ware Racing Ford, won’t take part in qualifying either.
