Man Facing 7 Years in Jail for ‘Indecent’ Behavior on Flight

A man is facing potential jail time over his behavior on a flight in Australia back in February.

According to News.com.au, the man appeared in court on Monday and is facing one count of an act of indecency, which carries a maximum seven-year jail sentence. The 41-year-old is accused of disturbing acts during a flight from Sydney to the Gold Coast on February 4.

Australian Federal Police (AFP) say the man touched a female passenger’s inner thigh “several times” and also stuck his hands in her food. Police arrested the man when the flight touched down at Gulf Coast Airport.

“When travelling through an airport and on a plane, people are bound by Australian law and, where there is evidence someone has committed an (alleged) criminal offence, the AFP will take action,” AFP Detective Superintendent Scott Moller said.

“This (alleged) incident should serve as a reminder to the community that authorities will not tolerate indecent behaviour at our airports or on aircraft.”

This is the second recent odd incident in the world of Australian air travel. Last week, a helmeted man was arrested in Brisbane after causing a disturbance on a flight.

The man was allegedly sprinting up and down the aisles of the plane and at one point apparently removed his shirt. He was eventually tackled and subdued by passengers and Virgin Australia personnel.

According to 7News, the man was charged with one count of assault and one of public nuisance. He’s due to appear in court on June 26.
