What Is Cattea? Catizen’s Next Telegram Airdrop Offering for Web3 Gamers

Key Takeaways

  • Hamster Kombat drew over 300 million players before its airdrop in late 2024.
  • Catizen has recorded over 48 million players since launching in March 2024.
  • Cattea has pledged 75% of its token supply to the community.

Telegram’s Web3 gaming scene grew at a rapid rate in 2024 thanks to its wildly popular play-to-earn (P2E) airdrop offerings, Hamster Kombat and Catizens.

Cattea, a new game from the developers of Catizens, is set to bring yet another airdrop offering to players in 2025.

What Is Cattea?

It follows a similar premise to its predecessor Catizen in that players are invited to increase the profit-per-hour of their Cat-themed Yuanyang milk tea shop.

They do so by playing a Mahjong-style game and completing tasks, which earn players in-game currencies to spend on shop upgrades.

Unlike Catizen, there doesn’t appear to be any additional in-game currencies that can be purchased with fiat or crypto, or other in-game transactions that can give wealthier players a significant edge over the competition.

That said, the number of “free” games a user can play is capped at 3. In order to continue playing, users must sit through a couple of short adverts lasting less than a minute in total.

Users can currently pay $1.99 to remove ads for the day or permanently for $29.99.

Cattea Airdrop

Similar to Catizen’s CATI airdrop, Cattea has a significant portion of tokens allocated to its airdrop.

As per the game’s tokenomics, 75% of its tokens will be put towards the airdrop following the token generation event (TGE). A further 15% will go towards marketing, an additional 8% into development, and 7% to market makers.

At present, the total supply of the Cattea token is unknown.

That said, the allocation is higher than the initial 43% promised in the CATI airdrop. This was later reduced to 34% behind the scenes ahead of the TGE.

Cattea has already made small adjustments to the TGE, which originally pledged 10% for developers.

Anticipation

Cattea isn’t the only Web3 gaming initiative promising returns under the Catizen brand, and is the third title within Caitzen’s ecosystem to offer an airdrop.

However, unlike its flagship airdrop titles Catizen and Bombie, you can’t see how many players Cattea has drawn yet. It’s a curious move as games that aren’t billed as airdrop titles have displayed their player counts from the start.

There is also the added element of Catizen’s ongoing “Airdrop Pass,” which sees players collect points by completing in-game tasks across Catizen, Bombie, and Cattea titles.

These points are then tallied up at the end of each season and converted into CATI tokens, or points for Bombie, which, after launching in August 2024, is yet to confirm an airdrop date.

Ultimately, Catizen veterans, Bombie players, and newcomers to the Telegram space are eager to find out if Cattea delivers on its promises.
