Arctic Trucks Unveils Modified Toyota Land Cruiser 250
Arctic Trucks has pulled the wrappings off its Land Cruiser 250/Prado AT37 build and it’s wonderfully understated. After all, these days we’re constantly inundated with off-road mods that are in-your-face, from “Angry Eyes” Jeep grilles to bumpers that look like they belong on an armored military vehicle.
Even Land Cruisers get stuck sometimes.
If you’re familiar with AT, then that’s really not surprising. Founded back in 1990, the company was a special vehicles division on Toyota but now operates independently. From the beginning it’s focused on no-nonsense off-road modifications instead of catering to the mall crawler crowd that wants more flash than substance.

For anyone wanting to impress while in line at Starbucks, this build will be completely boring. But for those who want a vehicle that’s seriously good at off-roading, especially in incredibly remote and rugged areas of the world, this build could be the ticket.
There are many subtle mods on the rig. Your eyes aren’t playing tricks on you, the Land Cruiser has a wider track and fender flares. The frame, body, and drivetrain are all modified to increase ground clearance while keeping the center of gravity low.
Also included is a bespoke two-way adjustable suspension system designed by Arctic Trucks with “Dakar-winning specialists” providing input. Wheel travel is improved and the suspension provides a modest 1.5 inches of lift, so nothing too crazy. But the construction sounds rather stout, which is what matters most on the trail.
Buyers get to choose between 37-inch BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A K03 or Mud-Terrain T/A KM3 tires. You’ll note the AT Heritage wheels have an understated look that’s a little bit of a throwback to simpler times, which pairs well with the Land Cruiser’s retro-inspired styling.
Finally, AT highlights the 2-inch multifunction receiver hitch adventurers can use for towing, recoveries, or any number of accessories while getting out into the great outdoors.
According to Arctic Trucks, the AT37 not only can take on a variety of off-road conditions from rocks to snow, it’s supposed to handle quite well in daily on-pavement driving. While some people can afford to have a weekend toy, for many hobbyists these days their off-roader has to do double duty as a commuter vehicle.
