Wild’s Kaprizov resumes skating after Jan. surgery

Minnesota Wild star forward Kirill Kaprizov has resumed skating for the first time since surgery in late January to repair a lower-body injury.

“This is still truly the first step to getting back. Nothing imminent,” coach John Hynes said Thursday.

Kaprizov, 27, hasn’t played since Jan. 26 and remains week-to-week with 10 games remaining in the regular season. He was leading the Wild with 52 points (23 goals, 29 assists) through 37 games prior to the surgery. He also missed 12 games due to injury in late December and January.

Kaprizov, who won the Calder Trophy as the NHL’s top rookie in 2020-21, has 382 points (183 goals, 199 assists) in 315 career games with the Wild.
