Source: Panthers keep Christensen for one year

Veteran offensive lineman Brady Christensen agreed on Tuesday to a one-year, $2.78 million fully guaranteed contract with the Carolina Panthers, a source told ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Christensen, 28, proved he could be a quality starter at multiple positions over the past four seasons for the Panthers after being a third-round pick out of BYU in 2021 by the staff led by then-coach Matt Rhule.

He has 30 career starts, including 17 at left guard in 2022, when Carolina improved from 28th in sacks allowed to 11th.

He started six games in 2024 on the revamped line, including four at center and two at left tackle, his primary position at BYU.

Because the Panthers spent $100 million on guards Robert Hunt and Damien Lewis in free agency last year and had 2022 first-round pick (No. 6) Ikem Ekwonu at left tackle, Christensen became a swing starter at multiple spots.

Christensen became resigned to testing the free agent market after the 2024 season when the team turned to 2022 sixth-round pick Cade Mays for eight of the final nine games.

ESPN staff writer David Newton contributed to this report.
