New Jersey Devils defenseman Dougie Hamilton is well-known for being an offensive defenseman. Heading into the Devils’ Feb. 23 contest against the Nashville Predators, the 6-foot-6 blueliner had eight goals, 38 points, and a plus-8 rating in 58 games.

Now, Hamilton has hit a major new milestone against the Predators. After scoring his ninth goal of the season at the 9:14 mark of the second period, the Devils star has now recorded the 500th point of his NHL career. It took the Toronto, Ontario native 830 games to reach this impressive stat.

According to NHL.com’s Records page, Hamilton is just the 75th defenseman in NHL history to record at least 500 points in their career. Thus, this is an accomplishment that should not be ignored.

Hamilton has had a strong career, and it will be fascinating to see what milestones he hits next with the Devils from here.
