“Friday Knight hiLights”: Eichel Registers Two Assists On Highlight-Reel Line In USA’s 6-1 Win Over Finland

LAS VEGAS — The app formerly known as Twitter was abuzz Thursday night, as the Tkachuk brothers stole the show during Team USA’s 6-1 victory over Team Finland.

USA scored six unanswered goals after falling behind 1-0 early, and the Tkachuks accounted for four of the goals.

But it was the center of the line between the Tkachuks that had Golden Knights fan posting feverishly, as Jack Eichel finished with two assists.

All said and done, the Eichel line finished with seven points, as Brady Tkachuk had two goals and Matthew Tkachuk had two goals and an assist.

“Yeah, I think he’s like, the perfect centerman for guys like Brady and I,” Matthew Tkachuk said. “His speed, his two-way responsibilities, obviously his offense, with his shot and finding the ice and I think it’s good for us to have him, because he carries the puck a lot, so it really simplifies our game.”

Eichel also gave ESPN’s Sportscenter a Top 10 candidate for its highlight reel when he checked Florida Panther Aleksander Barkov into Team USA’s bench.

During the second period, USA coach Mike Sullivan moved Brady Tkachuk to the left wing with Eichel and Matthew Tkachuk.

“We’ve been together for four days,” Eichel said. “He’s coached for quite a while. I think we’re all trying to find chemistry and get comfortable with each other. That could mean some changes in lines and pairings and whatnot. I think everyone was prepared when their number was called and helped contribute to the win.”

Also playing for USA is Golden Knights defenseman Noah Hanifin, who finished with two shots, two hits and two blocked shots.
