NBA trade deadline 2025: Hawks trade De’Andre Hunter to Cavaliers for Caris LeVert, Georges Niang

As the 2025 NBA trade deadline approaches, the Atlanta Hawks are making a move, sending forward De’Andre Hunter to the Cleveland Cavaliers, per multiple reports. In return, Atlanta receives Caris LeVert and Georges Niang, plus three second-round picks and two swaps.

Hunter, 27, has spent his entire career with the Hawks since being drafted fourth overall in 2019. He became a more consistent starter for the team in 2022, playing both as a power forward and shooting forward. This season, he has averaged 19 points, 3.9 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game.

LeVert and Niang are both itinerant veterans who will add a boost to Atlanta’s bench. LeVert, 30, has been averaging 10.2 points per game, while Niang, 31, has averaged 8.7 points per game.

With the acquisition, the 41-10 Cavaliers add a strong forward to their starting five. Hunter will appear alongside Darius Garland, Donovan Mitchell, Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen as the team chases an NBA title.

Meanwhile, the Hawks, who are 23-28 and firmly in the middle of the table, will keep looking to future draft picks to build out a team around Trae Young.
