IHG Hotels & Resorts is set to expand its footprint into Kyoto, Japan, with a Garner brand hotel, in collaboration with Taisei Yuraku Real Estate and Pacifica Hotels.
The 103-room property will be the fourth Garner hotel in Japan and is scheduled to welcome guests in November 2025, following a comprehensive renovation.
The renovation is set to offer a new interior design and will see the addition of Garner brand hallmarks.
IHG Hotels & Resorts Japan and Micronesia managing director and IHG ANA Hotels Group Japan CEO Abhijay Sandilya said: “Expanding the Garner brand into Kyoto in partnership with Taisei Yuraku Real Estate and Pacifica Hotels is another milestone for our fast-growing mainstream conversion brand, since welcoming the brand to Japan six months ago.
“With the addition of the Garner brand, we will be offering more stay options for travellers from Garner and Holiday Inn in the mainstream segment, Crowne Plaza in the premium space, to Six Senses and the upcoming Regent hotel in the upper luxury space.”
The hotel’s strategic location in the upscale Shijo Karasuma area will offer guests convenient access to transportation and nearby historic and contemporary attractions.
Taisei Yuraku Real Estate representative director and president Takeshi Uekusa said: “Offering guests an international brand that’s designed to offer quality, relaxed stays at an affordable price, as well as easy ways to book through IHG’s global systems will enhance the overall guest experience and give travellers confidence they have made the right decision.”
The addition of the new Kyoto property will bolster IHG’s footprint in the city to four hotels, complementing the existing Six Senses Kyoto, ANA Crowne Plaza Kyoto, and Holiday Inn Kyoto Gojo, with a Regent Kyoto also planned to open in 2028.
IHG currently operates 54 hotels across Japan under ten different brands and has 17 more in the pipeline.
Earlier this year, IHG’s Garner Hotels celebrated the launch of its first three properties in Osaka, Japan.
“IHG to open Garner hotel in Kyototy” was originally created and published by Hotel Management Network, a GlobalData owned brand.
