ELMIRA, N.Y. (WETM) — An upcoming 5K run in Elmira aims to raise money to support orphans in Ghana and Haiti. The event called Heather’s Home 5K which is scheduled to take place at Eldridge Park, rain or shine, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
The funds will be used to build two homes, one in Haiti and one in Ghana, and to provide food, school uniforms and supplies. Last year’s event raised $14,000, according to race director, Katie Rhodes, and this year’s goal is $15,000.

“I think people feel really good about themselves, being able to come out, do something that they love to do and really just run for a cause, being able to raise money to help other kids,” Rhodes said.
Runners and walkers are welcomed to participate. The 5k run will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the Kids Fun Run race for children will start at 9:30 a.m. Anyone who wants to register can click here.
