During the first period of the Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs game on Tuesday night at the Saddledome, the newest Flames forward, Joel Farabee, scored his first goal with his new team.
However, the visitors, who are a perfect 4-0 on coach’s challenges this season, asked for a review, citing that Jonathan Huberdeau interfered with netminder Joseph Woll.
The review took a couple of minutes, but ultimately, the officials determined that Huberdeau’s stick got into Woll’s pads and skates, preventing him from getting to the loose puck in the crease.
Farabee, who would have had his first goal in a Flames sweater and his first lamplighter since Jan. 27 against the New Jersey Devils, saw his goal come off the board.
Interestingly, it was the second disallowed goal of the first period, as Toronto’s John Tavares had a goal called back on a high stick.
Farabee is still searching for his first point through seven periods with Calgary.
