Yankees signing former Mets RHP Carlos Carrasco to minor league deal

The Yankees added some pitching depth on Monday by signing veteran right-hander Carlos Carrasco to a minor league deal, per multiple reports.

Jack Curry of the YES Network was the first to report Carrasco’s new deal.

Carrasco, who will be 38 by the time the regular season begins, spent three seasons in New York with the Mets, pitching to a 5.21 ERA in 61 regular season starts while dealing with a number of injuries.

In 2024, Carrasco returned to Cleveland, where he spent the first 11 seasons of his big league career. He made 21 starts last season, posting a 5.64 ERA. He did not pitch for the Guardians in the postseason.

The Yankees have a very strong five-man rotation in place with Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, Carlos Rodon, Luis Gil and Clarke Schmidt, while Marcus Stroman could potentially be moved before the start of the season. Adding Carrasco gives the Yankees some increased starting depth, and also gives them another tested veteran in the clubhouse.
